For those who have yet to be issued their own gas mask, the new MSA Responder PAPR full system, including a choice of face piece and cartridge, is an attractive option. The full system includes the choice of 2 proven tight-fitting facepieces, either the MSA Millennium or Ultra Elite, and a choice of cartridge, either CBRN or multi-purpose.
For those already outfitted with one of the most popular gas masks in law enforcement, the MSA Millennium, the Responder PAPR basic kit integrates seemlessley and can be used with the Millennium to help increase the comfort of the wearer. The basic kit includes the motor-blower, 30" Breathing Tube and LiSO2 Battery (less facepiece and cartridge).
The motor-blower provides a constant air flow of over 115 lpm to the facepiece. This constant filtered airflow provides improved comfort due to the cooling effect, greatly reducing pulmonary stress, preserving strength and mental acuity. The airflow also prevents fogging in the face piece, reduces any feelings of claustrophobia, and allows for extended use-up to 8 hours-in hot, stressful, and hazardous environments
The Responder PAPR can be used with cartridges designed to meet the upcoming NIOSH CBRN PAPR requirements or with multi-purpose chemical cartridges designed to protect against hazards that might be encountered in tactical law enforcement operations.
